Unlike most frogs, the mimic poison dart frog lays its eggs on land. Parental frogs then have to carry freshly hatched tadpoles on their backs to the water where they can continue to grow. This illustration depicts the life cycle of the mimic poison dart frog in four stages: egg, tadpole, froglet, and frog.
